Who we are

Bazm is an online community of Shia muslims from around the world where they engage in sharing content, news and information about what’s happening in and around them.

Bazm is available as app for Android on Google PlayStore, and the same can also be accessed online with limited features on

Our main website, ( is available for business promotion, blog updates and other such announcements only.

Cookies for App

We do not use cookies on our app, but rather use Browser storage, which is more persistent. Any data saved by app on browser storage is meant to identify user and his/her preferences/information for a smooth and better experience. This data is not shared with any third party apps and is not accessible by any third party apps or services used in the app.

An example of usage of storage can be seen from the fact that you do not have to login again (until you logout) even after you close the app and visit again.

Cookies for website

The website uses cookies suggested by the framework on which the website is built. This may mean that website maybe storing cookies on your browser to identify you as logged-in user or a guest user and if you’ve an account on the website, it maybe storing information about that too (“Remember me” preference).

Since cookies are not persistent, most of them get cleared within a week or so.

We do not save any personal information in cookies.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Any media uploaded on app is stored on multiple servers. While as secure as they are, we encourage you not to upload any pictures with personal information in them. Any post on our app which is publicly accessible also allows a user to download associated media with it on their devices.

When accessing “Invite” feature on our app, we ask permission to access contacts on your phone. This allows us to identify (with some accuracy) Shia muslims in your contacts list and provide you with the same on the app, so that you could invite the people you selected from that list. This data is also stored on our servers for analysis and caching (so that we don’t access your contacts list again and again in future).

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with (for app)

For purpose of determining your aggregate location to serve you relevant content on the app, we extract your public IP from your requests and use third party services to get the geo-location data. That means, we share your IP address with third party services and we do not guarantee how they persist this information on their servers. This request, however, is only made on your first request every session when your location is unknown to the app, or when you change your location or try to get alarms for another location.

How long we retain your data (website)

If you leave a comment on this website, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

When you create an account on our app, any information you provided stays there regardless of whether you login or not. There’s no feature to delete an account yet so all of your information stays in the database. However, since access to database is limited to apps and APIs only, and that our databases are hosted with Amazon (which is pretty secure and reliable), you can rest assured that your data and information is safe with us.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or on our app, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

This does not include some of the data that is stored on your device since we do not have access to it. This data keeps changing or get purged when you clear phone data.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

We send your IP to third party applications to detect your location and other such information, such as Geolocation, your network information, your device information, etc.
